Yes, it's true. Partai Demokrat was a political party of traitors, and was against the idea of Indonesia's independence. This is a historical fact, and all Indonesians should know it.

Partai Demokrat was established by Mr. Mas Slamet, a mester in de recthen who worked as an Adjunct Inspecteur van Financien, beside teaching in the Rechtshogeschool in Batavia. Prior to the establishment of Partai Demokrat, he wrote an open letter to Queen Wilhelmina in December 1945, complaining about the chaotic situation in Indonesia, published by the ultra conservative Indie in Nood foundation, and also by Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant in January 1946. He was known to say, "If Indonesia gained her independence, I'll migrate to the Netherlands", as mentioned in Pewarta Deli, January 21, 1946. Pewarta Deli commented on him as "Mr Slamet satoe lagi perkakas Belanda oentoek memetjah belah kita."

I know, I know, it's only a similarity in names between two different political parties of two different eras, and probably the presently recognized Partai Democrat shares nothing but the name with the previous one. I just can't help wondering what would happen if somebody decided to establish a new political party with the name PKI...
